Through Pennsylvania 7-13-09

Bryn: We had a low-key driving day, enjoying some caramel corn from Rehoboth Beach and listening to The Last of the Mohicans. We started in Delaware and stopped in Owego, NY - the artsy photo with trees is the view of the Susquehanna River from our window.
Our surprise stop was in Scranton, PA. We went to yet another NPS site where the boys earned Jr Ranger badges - Steamtown National Historic Site. I remember hearing about this years ago when I worked for the NPS - something about strong area congressmen pushing this through to become a park. A multi-million dollar building with fancy exhibits and a huge theater surround a working turntable. And lots of lots of train engines and various types of cars.
Bret: Hey Uncle Karl and Ryan, you should go here! Ryan can be a Junior Ranger too. You will like all of these trains. Even the train table has a big roundhouse on it.
Randy: I liked how they had really good details on how steam engines worked and how they improved their efficiency over time. I was impressed by this park, I never even knew this existed.
Reed: We're watching the Home Run Derby on TV right now.
Bret: They hit really far home runs! This is preparing us for the All-Star Game tomorrow, when we'll be in Cooperstown!
