July 17 - Cohoes Buildings and Cousins

July 17 – Friday

Bryn: We visited the Pruyn House in Cohoes. Two important buildings were moved to this site – the Verdoy one-room schoolhouse and the Buhrmaster Barn. My mom went to the school. We found three pictures of her in the displays, plus more of her siblings. We called her from there and she told us a bit about it. We also visited the Buhrmaster Barn, which she used to play in as a girl. She got a call from there, too.

Next we tried to visit the Watervliet Arsenal. Despite the information on the website, it was closed on Friday. We'll try again on Sunday. The boys went swimming and played baseball with Tony.

Friday night – Catherine and Tom hosted a huge bbq. My aunt and uncle came, along with 5 of Catherine's brothers and their spouses. The tables were all under a big roof, so it didn't matter that it started raining. Maureen and I shared a big chocolate chip cookie birthday cake that Catherine made for us. Then we all headed inside for more chatting and storytelling.
