We're off in the Sportsmobile once again. We aimed to have wheels rolling at 9 a.m. on Saturday, we actually got out of the driveway at 8:54 - ahead of schedule!! Lovely, uneventful drive to one of our favorite Vegas hangouts - the Pinball Hall of Fame. On our first visit in 2009, there were the four of us and the workers. Today it was very full. Glad to see they'll be around awhile!
We had a very late lunch stop at the Travel Plaza on the Moapa Paiute Reservation - another favorite destination. Great little lunch counter with wonderful home made potato chips. Also Native arts including baskets by Everett Pikyavit, and fireworks. From there we had an easy drive to Mesquite, NV. It was hot and dry, but we took a swim and the boys found a dessicated bat in a wall niche on the side of the hotel. Fascinating and gross. There were lots of mesquite trees in the hotel parking lot, so Reed helped Bryn take pictures and Bret helped collected seed pods for use in an upcoming Riverside Metropolitan Museum exhibit.
